In general you are right. We surely have to face the problem that the possible range of numbers for bytes is increasing rapidly. Sooner or later we will need to implement number units at all places where sizes (and even numbers) of files are displayed. Otherwise the space needed to display the numbers would increase to infinite. ;-) But this needs to be an automatic (as it already is in some places) and not a fixed unit.
