K = kilo = 1000 = 10^3
M = mega = 1000000 = 10^6
These are standards agreed upon internationally.
Unfortunately, we have no convenient abbreviation for exactly 1024 and 1048576.
Worse, the "error" rate increases linearly with the exponent of 10.
So what should Kim do? I would hope he uses the ISO standard terms and values, and not the binary approximations.
