Yes, I agree that would be fine. Though I am not sure whether you realy gain much. You only loose accuracy. And while I can now say that a *long* number is als a *large* number this cannot be said if the numbers are in multiple units.

Remember that the ISO standard defines 'kilo' to be the factor 1000. Having misused this as a factor of 1024 over years for binary numbers doesn't make this correct. I think that 1000 *is* the correct factor, even if some 'marketing junkies' have dicovered this at first. ;-)
