Consider the directory structure
00A
---00B
---00C
------00D
------00F
------00F
Each directory has 80 files
While on 00A Split screen and Branch (F8,B) and note the highlighted file. No matter what new file is highlight from then on, Tab twice and this original file will be returned to.
New info---
Keep the non-branch side in dir mode.
It seems to be the non-branched side is affecting the file highlight in the branched side, even though the branch is not open, only logged.
Test: Invoke a split and open the branch, change to a new file, Tab and open the same branch. The original file is highlighted. Tab back and the highlight is repositioned back to the original. This happens no mater whether the Branch contains one dir or multiple dirs.
It seems the branch file it locked because the branch is logged on the other side even though a different directory is current.
