I assume that not all the files are photos, but for those that are, you can get the 'true' time stamp data from the EXIF data. There is a small free command line utility called jhead which you can get at

The command jhead -ft will timestamp all files matching the filespec (which can contain wildcards) to the stored exif time.
The quality of the exif time stamp data depends on the settings in the camera used to take the photos, if the camera time was incorrect when the photo was taken the exif data will be incorrect too, but it will match the timestamp of the photos on the camera's sdcard and so probably the stored time stamp on disk.
